I substitute Sucanat for sugar in baked products (I have yet to try agave nectar because it upset my stomach when I was putting it in my coffee) except for those I make for J. J has a real sensitivity to Sucanat, so I use honey or maple syrup in her stuff. I use Stevia in my coffee. The organic, raw kind is better than refine sugar for sure, but I have read that other natural alternatives are better (i.e. Sucanat, agave nectar, stevia. Honey is similar to raw sugar).Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06592259141337496951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8829723287071366487.post-74583701631921467252010-04-27T06:46:21.229-07:002010-04-27T06:46:21.229-07:00Wow! And I'm wondering if you just go without...black coffee, no sweets....or substitute...I'm looking for alternatives to sugar now. Even the organic, raw kind is no good? Hmmm....love your blog as usual!Elenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15264436609917565573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8829723287071366487.post-91867672243397269682010-04-25T07:58:36.999-07:002010-04-25T07:58:36.999-07:00P.S. I am often met with resistance or looked at like I have three heads when I tell people I don't eat sugar or feed it to my family.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06592259141337496951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8829723287071366487.post-18619742670804718892010-04-25T07:57:47.041-07:002010-04-25T07:57:47.041-07:00Faith - Not at all! Not only does it suppress the immune system, but it's also the preferred fuel for cancer cells. That's enough for me to avoid it at all costs!!! :)Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06592259141337496951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8829723287071366487.post-46849913009061093232010-04-25T06:23:12.483-07:002010-04-25T06:23:12.483-07:00wow..I am very impressed with your "no sugar&...wow..I am very impressed with your "no sugar" rule for your family. My own girls didn't have sugar until age 1....and they were never sick until close to age 2. I kid you not. Sugar definitely suppresses the immune system!!! We did notice in France that sugary foods are not consumed as much here...also maybe why they appear healthier than Americans....we saw NO obese French people.<br />I am going to give a friend of mine the name of this blog..she is really into cutting out sugar from her family's diet...hope you don't mind!!Faithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06608258814596465122noreply@blogger.com
